R.I.P. Steve Jobs
0No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

iPad，什么玩意儿？

随着今天苹果的发布会“latest creation”，之前坊间流传数月的各种小道消息终于可以入土为安了。只是这个发布会结束的实在有够突然，万众期待的iPhone OS 4.0并没有“按计划”发布，导致所有焦点只能集中在一个叫“iPad”的介于Laptop与Cell Phone之间的东西身上。“无可奈何”的各路记者，Blogger也只好就iPad展开如火如荼的讨论。我也只有“无可奈何”的参与这个讨论。说无可奈何，是因为之前我对所谓苹果平板有着很高的期望值，但在iPad发布之后觉得跟期望相去甚远。假设，仅仅是假设，苹果如果真的已经有了iPhone OS 4.0，今天压着不发，把所有的焦点都给了iPad同学以让它获得更高的曝光率，说明苹果对i字辈第三个P（iPod，iPhone，iPad）期望甚高。然而，就我而言，我觉得iPad很难能够达到另外两个P的高度。Gizmodo的编辑第一时间列举了iPad的八大失败之处，我认为说的很不错。不过我自己认为iPad更大的问题在于苹果根本没有给它找到一个准确的定位。我不会称iPad为平板电脑，因为我认为它根本就不算电脑：iPhone级别的配置、依赖于iTunes同步内容以及有限的扩展能力让人觉得iPad其实就是一个硬件增强、屏幕加大版的iPod Touch。而如果作为电子书，长时间使阅读，iPad的背光屏幕会让眼睛不太好受，而且10小时的电池续航也很难与Amazon的Kindle（4天=96小时）相抗衡。此外，触摸键盘到底适不适合大量文字输入还有待考证。而iPad这个名字也已经在网上被人调侃了。（这个名字倒让我想起了多年前的iPAQ，那个时候还叫PocketPC, Palm还很火 …）诸多问题综合起来看，我并不太看好iPad的前景。接下来，我就逐条小评一下这款苹果的新武器：iPad。 (more…)
